Alternate ways of mounting front lights
I'm having a bit of trouble with handlebar space. With lights, bell, and computer, there isn't really enough space for my hands on the handlebars of one of my bikes.
Is there some way of attaching something to give me more real estate? E.g. some sort of bar that will attach to my handlebar stem?

'Minoura space bar' and the like. There are many different products that do this kind of thing.

There are quite a few options scroll down this page for most of them:- https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/accessory-fitting-brackets/

Minoura is very good, as is Topeak - find one you like, then try ebay for the copies
Ty SJS for alternate and replacement brackets for just about everything

I have one of these

In the shed somewhere, found it very useful, you are welcome to it if you are local to Southampton

Tiramisu clamps with either a short bit chopped off the supplied bars or if you need something longer any 22.2 diameter tube will fit.

I use a Minoura Head Space mount. Swap out a spacer, and outs my main light out of the way somewhere under my Garmin (which sits on a conventional handlebar mount).

Thanks for the replies. Now that I know some words to search for, I can find them.

Another idea - also available from SJS Cycles - are these: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting-sp ... ght-mount/
They replace the opposite side of your QR skewer and allow you to mount your lights at hub-level.

Alternative ways are probably what you want rather than alternate ways.

If there isn't space for your hands on the bars then use one of them to hold a light

Ah, mea culpa.
Re: Alternate ways of mounting front lights
There's a simple low-cost way of doing this - bolt a piece of old handlebar to the reflector bracket as in the picture. Much better than spacebar IMO, as it doesn't get in the way of turning the bike upside down.

I have my front light on the right side of the fork. Does the job fine.
Re: Alternate ways of mounting front lights
If you have an Ortlieb bar bag they sell an adapter you can mount lights, GPS, etc. on. I wouldn't recommend them I've broken two: one when my bike fell over, the other just riding across root bumps, the thing just snapped. And they are quite expensive IMO

The bike I most want to light for out of town night riding has carbon forks which are oddly shaped. I think if I could find a light with the same fitting as the CatEye TL-LD500 rear light, then that might work.
