Wheel bearing size

Postby graymee » 27 Nov 2016, 7:18pm

I know my MTB rear hub has loose ball bearing but without taking it apart and measuring them I don't know what size. Is there a standard size of ball bearings for MTB hubs? 3/8" or 1/4" or does it vary from hub to hub?
I'm not old and cynical, I'm realistic!

Unless its a quando freehub. In which case it may be 9 X 1/4" on the left side and 10 X something smaller probably 7/32" (wish i measured them when i dismantled it). This was a Dawes branded hub BTW. Best to check when you open it up just in case.
At the last count:- Focus Variado, Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin, Raleigh 20, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Longstaff trike conversion on a Falcon corsa. :D
