Stem raiser for kids bike?

Post by tompfeiff »

Hi. I just bought a Wiggins Macon 16" for my daughter but she finds the handlebars are too low and I want to get a stem raiser. Unfortunately the stem seems to be a smaller gauge than on most larger bikes. Does anyone know if narrower stem raisers exist and where I might source one? Many thanks.

Tranz-X Twinholder might* work but won't give you much rise.

*Check handlebar and clamp diameters carefully for compatibility.

SJSC are good for the little bits.
Assuming the steerer is one inch (measure the outside diameter) you can get one of these shims https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems/ison-stem-shim-for-1-inch-fork-to-1-18-inch-stem/ then you can fit one of very many standard (inch and eighth) stems https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems-1-18-ahead-oversized/?order=price+ascending and https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems-1-18-ahead-standard/?order=price+ascending to get a rise.
as Gaz. says, check the handlebar diameter....many shims are available to fit a smaller bar into a larger clamp. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems-accessories/?page=2
