Any decent MTB stem 100mm long, 30 degrees, 31.8mm bar clamp, 1 1/8" steerer

Post by esuhl »

I recently bought a new stem (the bit that connects the handlebars to your steering/headset) to adjust my riding position. But it's still not quite right. I've re-calculated the kind of stem I need, but I just can find one in these dimensions. Can anyone help?

I have a mountain bike, with a 31.8mm bar clamp diameter, and a 1 1/8" steerer diameter.

And I'm looking for a stem 100mm long with a 30 degree angle.

But I can't find anything at all. This would be perfect if it was available with a length of 100mm:

Can anyone help?

SJSC don't list that Ritchey stem in 100mm.
They have one at 35 degrees......https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems/90-ird-1-18-inch-stem-plus-35-deg-318mm-clamp-silver/

Although not the length or angle you are specifically looking for it might be worth looking at the 90mm 20 degree Humpert Charisma stem (https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/stems/110-humpert-charisma-1-18-inch-stem-plus20-deg-318mm-clamp-black/). Due to it having a different geometry to a "normal" stem it is actually higher for the same mounting point and hence a smaller angle and shorter length might put the bar where you want it. It is also available at 110mm long but that will probably be too long.

Not the prettiest of beasts, but we've just fitted one of these adjustable stems (-20 to +40 degrees) to the front of my sight impaired friend's tandem (to allow for easy adjustment if others are piloting any time). It is available in 100mm (although we've used an 80mm), seems solid enough & is rated for MTB use.

Another tip, if you are swapping stems a lot, is to fit a clamping spacer such as this Problem Solvers one below the stem. then the headset adjustment doesn't go out when you do the swapping. :)
