Shimano freehub pawl spring

Post by 2Phat4Rapha »

Anyone have an idea where I might get replacement pawl springs for Shimano free hubs? I know their free hubs are officially non serviceable but I can get them open and I’m a tightwad. Well, maybe not that tight but I just can’t stand this throwaway approach. We’re talking about a plain “C-clip” type of retainer 20mm in diameter. Surely Shimano must OEM them from somebody.

The hub in question was a WH-RX010 but the enquiry is general.

Many thanks.

You might be able to find the same model hub used on eBay. That's what I did when I broke my freehub.

Not on Shimano's, as the pawls have a narrow slot for the spring -which is round- but on other freehubs an emergency pawl spring can be made with the volute spring of the QR skewer
It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...
