head cams and helmets
apparently head cams should not be used with helmets;they may pierce the helmet in a accident.

It was proposed that the head injuries michael schumacher recieved in his skiing accident were caused by his helmet mounted go-pro on impact.
Personally I'd mount on the bike but if you want the video to be where you are looking etc then that would be no use.

Wouldn't that also apply to helmet mounted lights?

Yes and it does. Helmet-mounted lights are dangerously misleading (showing a red light to the front if you look behind you) anyway and should not be used.
