Met a guy a couple of years ago who'd done similar with bamboo. It was very belt and braces, he carried a ball of bailing twine in his pocket to make roadside repairs, but it rode very comfortably. Even the saddle used bamboo - metal frame with slithers of banboo running back to front, attached with springs...looked like a torture device but was quite nice.

At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

I really wish he hadn't used a hideous abomination for the rear derailleur when the rest of it is so nice, but it is really cool!
