For my 90s Bridgestone RB-T build using Dia-Compe 4 finger flat bar levers.
Dia-Compe 980 or Shimano BR-MC70 brakes? (I have both)
Am i better off with a non QR outer cable stops for rigidity?
Which (Kool-stop?) pads on regular alloy rims? Not worried about wear rates but stopping my 90kg on hilly routes.
If i used the BR-MC70s they would be the only Shimano bits on the bike!
Thanks in advance.
Which cantilever brakes and bits?
Re: Which cantilever brakes and bits?
As with all cantis, setup is key. But having said that if the bosses are wide-spaced on the frame (as I expect they are), the shimano brakes will set up as medium-profile ones and will allow fine-tuning of the brake MA by lowering the straddle.
Dia compe 980 are not similarly adjustable for MA in the same way; they usually set up as wide profile only, and the MA (which is likely to be lower than with the other brake) doesn't vary much with straddle height.
cheers
