Post by Jacton »

My search for the bike for me continues and am now looking at the Trek DS1 or Trek DS2 There is a store in Alicante that stocks the bikes and am going there next week to test ride them
Does anybody have any exerience of these models? Trek websites are more than usless and will not load as whatever site i try I get the same error message on all their sites when I try to view the bikes

the DS1 has a screw-on freewheel which means that the rear axle will be vulnerable to breakage; it is symptomatic of this bike in general (and some others) in which you pay for the brand and you get a lot of cheap parts on the bike. Dunno if the DS2 is any different.

Both DS1 and DS2 models are unnecessarily heavy (for your intended use) IMHO because they have rather heavy front suspension fitted. Most experienced cyclists wouldn't bother with suspension for your intended use.

cheers
