Moulton Tyres & Tubes ?

Post by Christine »

I am struggling to get the right size winter tyres ( or just decent tyres ) & tubes for my Moulton TSR.
Using 20 x 1.10 anyone know of suppliers as I have been searching the internet & getting very little joy.

Just bought a pair of Continental Sport Contact 2 from eBay. Excellent price.
I have a Moulton TSR.

Bearing in mind that 406 is one of the commonest wheel sizes for hpv / trikes so if you find a specialist supplier of tyres to the hpv sector you should be spoilt for choice! :D
Here's an example: http://www.wrhpv.com/ukshop/tyres/406/
I've used a variety of Schwalbe tyres on my own TSR and have recently found their 28mm Durano rather good. https://www.schwalbe.com/en/road-reader/durano.html Schwalbe describe this tyre as being suitable for "training on wet winter roads".

any decent LBS will be able to order in the tyres you need. Schwalbe tyres can be had in a day or two if they are in stock in the UK. BTW you may be able to go up a size to a slightly wider tyre (eg a 1.25" or 32mm), if you have room beneath the mudguards. This gives you a bit more choice and may suit winter conditions better.

There is a good selection of tyres here

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tyres-20-406/

which may at least give you some ideas

cheers

Thank you for the replies, sorry I don't seem to be getting notifications even though I tick for them to come through.
I had forgotten St John's Street Cycles & the small tyre shop is one I don't know, so will check them out.
I have the Durano's on now & they can be a bit slippery sometimes, plus the side wall is very thin, I had punctures from hedge cuttings recently & couldn't believe how thin they were !
I saw the Conti's on ebay but was told when i messaged they wouldn't fit, do you use mudguards Mick F ?

6 bar is 87 psi, near as makes no difference. I guess that is what you meant?

I'm putting 90psi or slightly more in the rear Conti SC. The tyre says 6bar 87psi.
