Lightweight 700c 36 hole rim?
Hi
I’ve got a nice set of 36 hole hubs that I would like to build up for my summer road bike. I’d like a set of really light rims for them. Does anyone know of a good lightweight option that comes in a 36 hole option? Most of the obvious choices only come in a 32 max. The riding I do on that bike doesn’t involve much braking so if the lightweight comes partly at the expense of braking surface it wouldn’t really matter.
Cheers

You can still get open pros in 36 hole. How light did you have in mind?

Same weight as Open Pro -- Ambrosio Excelliight. Normally over £60 but in a sale at £25 https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/RIAMBEXSS ... odised-rim

good spot! ERD is listed as ~600mm BTW; dunno if that is super-accurate or not.
cheers

Velocity A23, which also comes in an off-centre version, which is helpful if the hub flange spacing isn't so good. Availability in the UK has been spotty in the past - not sure what it's like now.

Evens Open Pro - silver -36 hole - £36.90

You'll never know if you don't try it.

Would the Planet-X rims above be a straight swap for the Open-pros?

the ERD is different; nominally the spokes for the Open Pro (C) will be ~2.5mm longer
cheers

Thanks Brucy. I did look at the Pro ERD but there was a slight query on how Mavic quoted it compared with others.
Cheers.

Re: Lightweight 700c 36 hole rim?
the actual ERD of the Open Pro C is usually 605mm (an average of the rims I have built is 604.5mm I think). The ambrosio excellight is normally quoted as 600mm ERD. However when the rim sections are compared, it seems hard to believe that they are that different to one another;
it might be more of a direct swap than the available ERD information suggests.
