Dominic Winters, Auctioneers are showing this bike, a Linley & Biggs 'Whippet' sprung-frame bike from c1888, unbelievable (and a lot of other stuff including CTC historical material), auction May 18th. Estimate is a mere £22 – 27,000

It's something else! The suspension is dependent - when the front wheel rises so does the rear. It truly beggars belief how someone could ride it for 336miles in 24hr

Riding it is an incredible experience, akin to hanging from a bungee cord'.

Dunno about Tracey Emin, it reminds me in some way of Claire's bike!

Bloomineck! look at the price!
I see in books etc a lot of bikes from the period, why did they not extend the front mudguard beyond the forks? I know some didn't because the front brake pushed down onto the tyre.
