small lead-acid sealed gel batteries
as part of the Maplins ending, they are selling off what were expensive small factor lead-acid gel batteries for £4-7. ( some were £25+) 12 or 6v some 1.2 Ah some 7.6 Ah. Any ideas anyone if there is a cycling use for these?

BITD a variety of high powered halogen front lights were powered from such batteries.
I last used one (4.2 Ah) around five or six years ago for that purpose. Shortly after switching from running 13W of halogen bulbs to 2W of LED I decided 4 x AA gave more than adequate run time for a fraction of the weight and made it simpler to carry spares too.

Still use in my Lidl hand held portable vacuum cleaners (must be 15 years old), and running a 6W halogen bike lamp many moons ago, but moved on since then.

Lead-acid batteties have been pretty much totally superseded by Li-Ion batteries anywhere that weight matters.
