I now have the Spa Ti Aire saddle and can confirm that I can indeed feel the springing from the rails. On my Brooks B17 narrow I can't. The Spa is about 400 g vs. the Brooks at about 550 g.
There is a snag in that the Ti Aire has markings on the rails which show how far forward or back you can set the seatpost but the marked area is so small that there is effectively only one place for it giving no possibility of adjustment! If that's the case then I ought to buy a new seatpost with about 10-12 mm more layback. Think I'll get onto Spa to see if my understanding is correct.

The breakage on mine was a crack from the rail/cantle plate weld that propagated to the edge of the cantle plate in both directions.
