New ultegra crank and keep the fsa on the cannondale? Does that not eradicate that issue or is there more to it? I've still to speak to my mechanic about this

Sorry- Yes you are correct.
depending which L-Etape you look at, one is BS threaded and the 105 is BB30.

If anyone should have to fit a press fit BB go on eBay as there's a well engineered tool to do it at a reasonable cost.

And the cannondale is a bb30?? Also Can you point me to the bb30 tool? I'm very new to working on my bikes and my cannondale has the dreaded squeak

On some models Specialized have ditched press fit and gone back to threaded bottom brackets.
