Xt front mech tiagra shifters

Post by Ke1th »

Hi all. Having a chore setting up an xt front mech with tiagra shifters a d deore chainset. I'm quite experienced at this sort of thing but I can only just get it to work on all 3 chainrings. Is it a compatability issue?

Yes. Road front mechs have less cable pull than MTB. There is a work-around, clamp the cable on the wrong side of the mech clamping bolt. I don't know if this works well on low-band mechs, definitely works on high-band ones.

Thanks for replying.Thought it may be something along that line.Bike did have flat bar and mountain bike shifters when I bought it but couldn't get on with the flats. Will replace the mech and chainset with tiagra items. Luckily I still have them.
