Glueless patches get you going quicker than people taking wheels out and replacing tubes, though! The only thing quicker is sealant when it works but that's far messier to use.
If you can find the hole and the item in your tire that caused the flat in the first place (that's a big if). You're going to have to patch again with a proper patch kit again anyway. Want to save time at the side of the road? Use a CO2 inflater.

if you have an IGH + chaincase, yes, but a standard QR wheel with rim brakes and dedangler gears it is always quicker to change the tube.
As you know, I disagree, but I hope we never both puncture simultaneously and have chance to race!
