11 speed cassette on DD3 hub

If the Sram DD3 hub is 8/9 speed wouldn't an 11 speed MTB cassette work or is there something I'm missing? Just playing around at the moment but thinking about gearing.

ought to work but might be limited by the clearance between the mech and the spokes; try first using an old cassette etc before investing in a load of new stuff, perhaps?
