10 speed grip shifter - dd3

Post by fossala »

Does anyone know if I can use an X0 (10 speed) 3 speed grip shifter on a DD3 hub?

Don't know the answer directly but so long as the pull ratio matches the rear mech it will work.

Sorry, I meant a 3 speed front shifter on the dual drive (dd3) hub.

I asked that question about a month ago, After some digging you need one with the Same pull ratio which I believe is 1:1 but you will need to check that.

Looking at Sheldon Brown's website the hub seems to pull twice as much for on shift as it does for the other. 6.6-12.1

IIRC it is not a hub you can take too many liberties with, either; the direct drive gear is engaged using a sliding clutch that is the same width as the dogs with which it engages, which means that a 0.5mm error in position results in a ~1mm reduction in engagement.

cheers

Thanks. I already have a gripshift for DD3, just wanted matching as I don't like odd feeling grips. I ended up grabbing a trigger shifter for DD3 from Germany.
