Sram Derailleur compatibility.

Post by Salty Seadog »

I need to replace my sram derailleur on the Montpellier. It has flat bar therefore trigger shifters. I have looked at the sram apex derailleur but this is a road mech. Both it and the mech it is replacing use sram exact actuation which gives a 1:1 pull ratio.

Is it likely to work here or will I need a mtb specific mech?.

TIA.

safest option is to get another (X-series?) MTB mech with a similar number of speeds. You don't say how may you have, which makes it difficult to help you.

The Apex (10s) rear mech, although it is called '1:1' exact etc appears to have a different shift ratio to the 7/8/9s stuff (which isn't 1:1 exactly either), judging from the measurements on this page

worth looking at this page too

It used to be an SRAM Rival 11 speed long cage on the Montpellier.

This one?

Brucey It is a 10 speed cassette so I am replacing a 10 speed mech.

Mud plugger, mine is a 2014 Montpellier, the components are sram via GT. A groupset they only used for a couple of years.

10s sram road or mountain should work provided there is enough capacity
