Gear set compatibility

Post by luvs2spooge »

Would a 10 speed ultegra chain be compatible with a tiagra gear set?

I'm a trendy consumer. Just look at my ONEPLUS A5000 using hovercraft full of eels.

Hi
Shimano produce a chart. Click here and scroll down
I use Ultegra chains on mine without a problem, the number of sprockets (speeds) must match. The slots on a 6701 chain can be a pain to keep clean though. Mount it the correct way around too :)

BTW if either part is worn that is at least as big a problem, potentially.

Just be aware that Shimano warns its 6701 chain is not used with triple chainsets, instead an Ultegra 6600 chain is recommended.
