My Weinmanns have a QR on the lever. On another bike my Tektros do not, and I occasionally forget to reset. It's an age thing!

What's dodgy about the cam on a calliper. ?

The fact that you may forget that you've released it and your brake(s) won't work.
Having a QR on the brake lever is better, because if you forget to reset it, your brakes will still work.

Never had that problem. Yes levers come back further but always had brakes.
In fact I find it harder to operate the Campag' ones as it really takes two hands for ease. The Shimano just requires just one hand and can be reset while riding whereas the Campag' is not as easy.

I hated the Tiagra STI levers, so sold them on.
Hard to reach and operate even though I have big hands.
Campag Ergo levers can do an emergency stop from the hoods, but the STIs I had were horrible and inefficient to reach.

The Tektro callipers I used to have and the present Shimano callipers both (had) have a QR on them. I have Tektro levers now with the Shimano callipers, so I have (arguably) the best of both worlds in that the Shimano callipers have a QR cam and the Tektro levers have a button like the Campag ones that I have on the other bike.

Campag Ergo 10sp on Mercian.

Moulton came with 10sp Tiagra STIs, swapped them for Shimano DuraAce DT index shifters and Tektro brake levers.
Much better.

Precisely.
Also, less likely to seize with time like it happens especially on rear calipers where the QR lever may get lots of road spray and stay stuck. The button on the Campag levers only needs one drop of oil to go back to work (or easy to tap with a suitable flat punch)
