Dynamo output
Dynamo output
Ive been thinking of getting a dynamo wheel for my fixed gear and saw this https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s170p37 ... namo-Wheel i only want to run lights maybe only a front so would this do the job as it is only 1.5v??

Re: Dynamo output
I think it's a typo, should be 1.5W

Avoid the XR2 rims if possible unless you have strong thumbs, they can be a real tight bummer to get some tyres on.

Re: Dynamo output
According to Shimano themselves, should be 6V/3W.

Re: Dynamo output
There is a 1.5W DH-T780
https://bike.shimano.com/en-AU/product/ ... 80-1N.html
I think the idea is low weight and low drag compared to the 3W hubs, for those who mainly want a hub for a "be seen" light or occasional use

Re: Dynamo output
I like the low weight and low drag only want lights so thought it might be enough?seen this https://www.rosebikes.co.uk/herrmans-h- ... ht-2666689 to use with it says it works with 1.5-3 watt

The DH-T780 is a 3W output, the DH-T780-1N (to which you have linked) is 1.5W. The Spa Cycles page linked in the OP does not mention the -1N, hence my conclusion that it is the 3W unit which they are advertising. Definitely worth clarifying with Spa before purchase, I would suggest.
Re: Dynamo output
the spa cycles link does say '1.5V' and I would suppose that they actually mean '1.5W'.
On this page
https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s133p0/Parts-and-Accessories/Lights-Dynamo-Lighting-Dynamos
they list the 1.5W version and not the other, so it is a pretty fair assumption that the first link is for a wheel with a 1.5W generator not a 3W one.
cheers

... as I said, definitely worth clarifying with Spa before purchase. We are all making assumptions about an advert which contains obvious errors.
Re: Dynamo output
Have spoke to them though email defo 1.5w dosent think theres a problem with just light as he runs one without a problem but wont charge usb happy days will be ordering when i make up my mind on what rim
Re: Dynamo output
SO have Shimano got round to improving the 1.5W versions enough to actually have lower drag than a 3W one then?

Probably not, see https://docplayer.org/7245137-Test-nabe ... nterw.html where the Alfine 1.5 W is included (according to Brucey, Shimano hubs do better when properly adjusted).
