training wheel and cassette

i am looking to get another wheel for training on a turbo trainer,

does the cassette has to be the same as that is on my bike, it is just i have seen a good deal on a wheel with a tyre but is is a 10 speed cassette where mine is a 9

Will probably work with the 10 speed cassette (if you don't shift), if not , a 9 speed cassette is cheap.....
