braze on's or mounting bolts

Post by nigzy »

Hi all ,

i getting my forks resprays, but before i do , i'm unsure whether to get braze on's fitted or just get the tubus mounting kit, if i do go with braze on's should i get the rack 1st for measurement or is there a standard measurement from the axel eyelet's
Cheers

there is a standard separation for the mid-fork bosses vs the dropout eyelets but they don't all work in exactly the same way; best to check that your carrier uses the standard dimension

The carrier is nearly always much better mounted using a braze-on mount but

-surface mounted eyes sometimes fatigue off the forks (I'd always use a loop at the front with these types of braze-on) and

- through-blade mountings are better, but not all forks will accept them without the fork itself being weakened

cheers
