Araya RT-520 rims

Post by ElCani »

Anyone know anything about the quality of these? I've acquired an old pair of wheels that use them, laced to Shimano 1056 hubs.

Thanks.

EDD claims 612.4mm ERD which sounds reasonable for a shallow rim like that but recommends that you measure to be sure.

This rim is only 470g (claimed), shallow, and has no eyelets. I suspect that it won't build into a terribly strong rear wheel and that there is a risk of cracking around the DS spoke drillings. The brake surface doesn't seem terribly thick-looking. Other listings claim 580g, so maybe there is more than one version.

cheers

Great, thanks for that. The ones I have look lightly used and the hubs feel ok too. I'll stash them...
