Trek 4400 fork swap

Post by RJS »

I have a Trek 4400 with a cheep suspension fork, haven't used it for years; thought I might use it on the road with a ridged fork, any suggestions for a suitable swap; I guess some new head races as well.
Cheers.

so 1-1/8" threadless steerer, 26" (559mm) wheels? I'm guessing that you need a suspension-corrected fork too.

Such things are a bit thinner on the ground than they used to be. One alternative is to use a disc brake at the front and to use a fork that is really meant for fattish 700C tyres on a touring bike or something; these can work out about the right length too.

cheers

Exotic Carbon fork from carboncycles.cc

I've run one off-road for a couple of years and am very pleased with it.
