This sort of thing

Presumably this covers the cable for almost its entire length, from lever to hanger, with a couple of sections at the front and rear also covered by the outer casing.

Be careful when changing... routing cables through frames can be difficult

Get a cheap inner, and slide through the existing outer
Remove the present outer, leaving the cheap inner in place.
Now slide the new outer over the cheap inner and it will route through the frame.

Now replace cheap inner with the proper one

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that the OP's bike has internal cable routing.

Your bike looks like the sort that frequently came fitted with pointless a sleeve covering the bare sections of cable between brazed-on stops. In my opinion it is certainly pointless and in some conditions might interfere with the smooth operation of the cable.
Provided you have good quality stainless cables, I would advise not using the sleeving - if that is what you have - the cables will come to no harm running naked in these sections.

Hi,
Yeah, but the cable can flap around on the frame and mark the paintwork?
You just cut the sleeving a tad short and that solves any problems there.

I use little "O" rings on my brake cable to stop it rattling against the top tube.
Something similar to this:-

But I have also used some soft silicone tube on a bike.
You'll never know if you don't try it.

I interpreted it that way...

My fault, I should have clearly stated exposed inner cable running along the length of the bike crossbar, nevertheless, a big thank you to all those who reached out

Hi,
One of those items it's hard to find on eBay due to different descriptions describing Tubing and uses.
I'm sure you could buy a commercial equivalent cheap, any plastic would do, pure silicon rubber in short lengths would be okay, longer lengths Might ruffle up.
If it's specifically Top tube upper then rubber O-rings which I have on one of my bikes tend to move around a lot, even if I superglued them.
Probably because they're being brushed by my thighs, My other bike got tubing with same exposure to thighs.

While we're on the subject if you have a bike in the rear rack that uses V brakes That's a cable can come close to the rack to frame mounting strip, cutting short length of hard plastic tubing split along its length mini cable tie or mastic to hold in place on the outer cable.

(Typed with speech )

P.S.I did not check the size correctly of the item I linked Would suit your cable?
Tubing is normally a generous fit (the correct stuff) so jamming is minimal.
Another plus for the tubing is that when you get off the bike and rest your inner thigh on the top Tube oil and grease from the cable won't go onto your clothing/skin.

Back in the day you'd go to Maplin.

Now you have to go online, just look for "1.6-1.8mm ID PVC tubing/sleeve". Lots of choices and colours.
Very simple.
It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.
Thus you remember them as they actually are...
