E-bike controller

Hi , I got this UK 15mph restricted e bike I've added pics I opened what I thought was the bikes controller but inside there is just 2 wire split into 4 but they aren't attached to anything! . They run back to the motor .i was looking because I wanted to add a throttle as its just pedal assist at moment . Also what are these wires for?attachment=0]20190429_182835.jpg[/attachment]
