RIP David Gordon Wilson (author of 'Cycling Science')

Just seen elsewhere; given how his _Cycling Science_ has been praised and discussed many a time on here, it seems appropriate to mark Prof. Wilson's passing:

he had a pretty fair innings; 91 years old. RIP.

I first read his book "Bicycling Science" (originally co-authored with Frank Whitt) over 35 years ago. A good read even now; later editions contain only relatively small changes.

cheers

Sad to hear that although he was getting to the age where the news isn’t a huge shock.

There’s a man who made a dent in the universe!

Some of his accomplishments are listed in this obituary. Perhaps the most intriguing one is that he finished a fourth edition of Bicycling Science days before his death. (Cycling Science would have been more accurate but he called it Bicycling Science.) I’ll be adding that to my collection if it is published, which I surely hope it is:

Oops - I really should have double-checked the title! As an undergrad I must have consulted an earlier edition, but only own the 3rd myself; as you say, hopefully the 4th will see the light of day.
