Any nice 7-speed double cranksets out there?

Post by Spinners »

Does anyone know of any new 7-speed double cranksets out there? I'm planning a 7-speed build to use up some nearly new components I have knocking around - 130 BCD preferred but OK with Compact.

Shimano Tourney is another option I suppose but I'll probably change the inner ring from Steel to Alloy.

Agreed Spa's XD cranks are a steal and great quality.

Good call on both. I'd forgotten that 7-speed and 8-speed will work (too ingrained now in the +1 more cog wars).

The XD's look great especially at £25 for the cranks as I'm sure I can rustle up an outer ring (I definitely have a 38t in the spares box).

there's also these

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/chainsets/alloy-compact-double-square-taper-chainset-5034t-170mm/

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/chainsets/sunrace-r81-road-double-chainset-w-extra-5242t-rings-5339t-170-mm/

As long as you can get the chainline you want, the former looks like a bargain at £25; similar chainsets are available with 165 and 175mm cranks too.

Further to the above the latest Claris model FC-R2000 is HT-II and 8s, so if you want HT-II then you can have it.

cheers

I was tempted by some Chinese alloy 130 BCD cranksets on eBay for £12 but I think I'll go for the XD2's from Spa.

Thanks again.
