Rear Bike derailleur components

Hello there! I'm looking into getting some more information about rear bike derailleur components. E.G - Made from, Their job etc.
I would like to know:

What is the job of the Stop ring? What is it made from and how are they made?

How are the Inner Plates on the derailleur made?

Answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated!
