Tyre bulging

Post by kovacsa »

Hey All, Does anyone know of a sure fire way to keep a tyre from bulging while being inflated with a floor pump? I seem to have an issue with bulging in one spot of my tyres. These are the tires at 35mm, https://www.continental-tires.com/bicyc ... ss-king-cx I have two tyres at that size that bulge. The 32mm ones do not bulge. The bulge is not huge, but is noticeable when eyeing it. Any ideas?

Hi
The video seems to show a buckled wheel; photos would be helpful
If the bulge coincides with the valve and you're on inner tubes, deflate the tyre and push the valve "out" into the tyre to seat the tyre beads at that point (there isn't a need to push the whole valve out of the rim, just as far as your fingers can push)

In my view a good way to avoid tyre bulges is not to buy Continental tyres. I switched to Schwalbe years ago because of this problem.

Looks to me like the distortion is in the wheel rim.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

If the rim is round ......
Then a bit of soft soap between the tyre and the rim may help the tyre to slip into place.

YMMV .......... :D

I have never had a problem with Continental tyres bulging, but I have returned several Schwalbe marathon’s for that very reason.
