I've just taken out the bottom bracket to see if it's this causing the clicking sound I get when pedalling.
I'd thought it unlikely as it's only 2 years old.
I was very surprised to find the left hand side (not sure if it has a name) has a split right across the threads.
I never noticed at the time that it's made of plastic.
Sorting through my box of bits I found a metal one which I fitted. I'm not sure if it's cured the problem or if the whole bottom bracket needs changing.
Is it possible to buy an all metal Shimano bottom bracket as I don't want another plastic failure.
Bottom Bracket
Re: Bottom Bracket

And very good is it too.
Beauty will save the world.
Re: Bottom Bracket
The LH cup used to be plastic, now they are aluminium.
A lot of other things creek too, the cup might be innocent of all charges.
Check the axle/crank tapers are clean, and pedal (and BB) threads greased (or copper slipped) and secure. These can creek too.
The bearings are almost certainly fine, expect a dacade or more of life.

That's what I was expecting , at least 10 years.
The creak is still there so more investigation needed
