Im looking for some advise pleae......
I currently have a Surly LHT (Disc) 58cm frame cycle which in order to cycle nicely I have had to dispense with my B17 saddle and use a Spa cycles saddle that I can get to sit further back as I cannot get the B17 to go back far enough in order to feel comfortable when cycling - I always always felt as if my backside was not far enough back.
Would a 60cm frame be any better or is there other options available (Cheaper) to adjust the riding position - Im not sure if I should be moving the handlebars further away or moving the seatpost backwards somehow ?
As you probably realise I'm not that experienced when it comes to cycle components hence little technical jargon.
Any thoughts would be most welcome
Many thanks
Stu
Will a 60 cm frame be much difference to a 58cm frame?
Re: Will a 60 cm frame be much difference to a 58cm frame?
It sounds like you have long thighs and therefore may need a shallow seat angled frame, not necessarily larger just more laidback.

My own feeling is that you should not be thinking of moving the bars away to get your bum into the right position. You should get your bum in the right position, then work out where the bars need to be. In that order.
A longer top tube may not in itself help because the positional problem you are trying to solve is how to get your bottom sufficiently far behind the bottom bracket. You are not trying to get the bars further away.
A frame with a less steep seat tube will help. It will naturally put the saddle further back.
A seatpost with more layback should help, if you can find one. This might get you back a bit further:

A larger frame size won't fix your problem but this will:- https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/erg ... 2mm-222225
Postage from Germany is £6 and is very quick, usually between 3 and 5 days
I can thoroughly recommend it

The size is frame is relatively immaterial: what matters is the seat tube angle - measured from horizontal, you need a lower number so the saddle is moved back. Though as noted above, a layback seatpost may get you there with the current frame.

Long layback seatpost

Not cheap. but a lot less than a new frame.

Hi,
Always that, get that right and it won't be a mile from being comfortable even with the wrong reach.
