Pro's - You can set light to it and it will keep you warm and burn a long time.
Cons – it will tend to flex more in hot weather.

my late father left me a garage with rafters laden with plenty of yorkshire made copper tubing, 22 and 15mm.
it wouldn't rust but i don't fancy it for a bike. be nice and shiny with some wire wool action though.

Hmm.
Seeing as (old, plastic much better than copperIMHO) plumbing materials have come up, how about lead piping? Very easy to bend and shape!
If it doesn't collapse on you it will drive you bonkers through long contact!
Now what does that remind me of?

Re: What Not To Make Bike Frames Out Of
Decades ago when I was doing an Outdoor Education degree we were shown how to abseil from a glove in hard packed snow. Last resort sort of thing. Taking it one stage further we wondered what else from the rucksack could be used. Frozen Mars bars proved darn tough. We suspected that a Curlywurly might be as well. Flakes proved less so and we had theoretical doubts about Aero bars. A sandwich (can't remember what filling) proved marginal.
It is surprising what materials can be used for things if you really want to.
