Removing a stuck chainring bolt

I don't use any grease near my chainset. A light film of oil on the spindle to prevent corrosion and I'm done!

Not sure what Mr Shimano says on the subject but as I'm unlikely to ever use one,...

shimano says to use grease on a square taper and to use more torque on the bolt too.

If you have bought stronglight in recent years then arguably you may as well have bought shimano; plenty of stronglight cranks are made in Japan (eg by Sugino) and are made to japanese specs, very similar to shimano.

My Stronglight is a Stronglight 99 bought as a 52/36 double in autumn 1986 from Colin Lewis Paignton. Bought a BB to match too, but swapped it for a 651 about a year later. The 651 BB has a hollow spindle and is adjustable both sides.
