Skewers

Post by Nicks »

A very kind friend has lent me their spare turbo for the lock-in! I have had a replacement wheel and the quick release skewer won’t fit safely so I presume i need a new skewer. It’s a hybrid - this is the current version - https://dawescycles.com/product/mojave/ how do I tell what skewer I need?

Hi,
The description in your link says "nutted" Axles front and back?
I find that a little unusual on a bike of this price.
Can you post some pictures of the axle and quick release?

Hi, if you enlarge the picture you can clearly see that it comes with solid axles and nuts , I would of thought there are two options , either convert the hub to a skewer and QR or manage to get adaptors to go on the end of the solid axles . nomisp

Hi,
The OP says that the rear wheel was changed and now has a quick release skewer.
We need some pictures to go further I think in diagnosis.

Depending on the turbo they often need a different skewer, stronger and with ends to fit the turbo clamps.

Something like this for Tacx trainers for example:-

Though I have found some normal skewers can fit ok, just make sure you are happy they won't pop out when you are giving it all on the turbo!
