saddle tie ring question

Post by snaz »

Hi
Please refer to picture

The bottom black saddle has two oblong tie rings at the rear while my new brown saddle placed on top doesn't. What are these oblong tie rings called and can i purchase 'detachable' versions i can add as an accessory to the new (brown) saddle ? Links to examples appreciated.

Thanks for your time and attention

Saddle bag loops.

These https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m5b0s73p2978/SPA-CYCLES-Saddlebag-Loops

look like the Cyclo ones which did not last long for me. It may be that my Karrimor uplift put an unfair strain on them.

I meant the bolt on items in the link.

Some earlier discussion here: viewtopic.php?t=81383

I tried the Cyclo-style loops (linked to in post above from SJS) once, but found they tended to rotate around the saddle rails. If I did them up tightly enough to stop them rotating they just bent.

I now use various versions of these https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/luggage/car ... ase-clamp/ on different bikes. Pricey, but more solid than the bolt-on loops, and easier to fit and remove a bag.

I have used the Carradice SQR system,
https://www.carradice.co.uk/products/accessories/sqr-system
BUT, it does not fit all bikes, it needs enough space above the wheel, or guards, and it rather expensive.
