Swap shimano for campag

Postby bazzo » 28 Jul 2020, 11:00am

I have an old 531 framed bike, which I currently use with braze on Campag friction gear levers and the rest of the set up is Shimano, with a 7 speed cassette.I am considering putting 7 speed shimano index gear levers on instead of the friction ones. Will the Shimano ones fit the Campag braze on brackets.

Yes, the Shimano d/t shifters will work.

You could even put 10s shifters on it, and use 9 cogs of a 10 speed cassette.
Shimano sells 10s 11/28 cassettes that have 2 first position cogs, 11t & 12t,
leave off the 11t and you have a 12-28 cassette.

You'd still have to buy a 12t top sprocket.
