Heavy duty kick stand any ideas?

Postby tenbikes » 29 Jul 2020, 8:46pm

This is not an area that I have any experience in.

I'm heading towards a fat bike cargo bike and was thinking about a heavy duty kick stand. I'd be looking to braze on a dedicated plate for this.

What should I be looking for?

define 'heavy duty'?

For a cargo bike a two-leg stand that fits behind the BB may work for you. But when you look at the load rating you realise that you certainly can't expect to sit on the bike with the stand down, and indeed the stand may start to suffer if the bike is simply well loaded up.

This is probably pick of the bunch

not because it is the strongest/most stable but because

a) it fits to a plate you can buy separately and can weld on to the frame
b) when (not if) you break it you can easily weld repair it.

Alternative models made in aluminium alloy/plastic etc cannot so easily be repaired.

cheers
