Rod brake handlebar spring

Post by Alreeves »

Please help!
I took apart a Raleigh rod brake handlebar to clean and am now really struggling to rebuild it. Despite taking a few photos of what it did look like it doesn’t seem to want to fit back together. The main problem is the springs pictured.
I’m not sure how they attach - read guide on one website but didn’t really mention springs apart from ‘they are easy to work with’ - not my experience!!
I’m not even sure now which is left and right!
Any help / link to pics or video so I can see how would be massively appreciated
Thanks

this is the sort of photo you should take before you take it all apart?

This should help?

FWIW I think your spring 1) is for the rear brake and spring 2) is for the front brake.

cheers
