montaguebikes frames double tube vs large single

I noticed that the montague folders which seem the close modern analogue of the Brucey's favoured Rudge folder, now have aluminium alloy frames ( but steel forks) but the 700c ones have a double tube top tube whereas the 559/26in ones have a single extangular one of same area approx: which one is best two small tubes for redundancy or one fat recto-oval one for strength?

Given that uk rail just say 20in for a folder exceed that you might as well have full size wheels. I suppos
