Re: Seat pin slippage

Post by terry_on_a_bike »

Fixed now, by replacing the seat pin with a Condor one. Good quality but not anodised. Just did 20 miles and no slipping. And not a shim in sight. Yippee.

Seatpost slip.

Post by roger72 »

I have built up a bike using a Spa Audax 725 frame and a Thomson alloy seatpost, if i hit a bump in the road a bit hard the post sometimes moves down in the frame.I have tried using carbon paste which is for use with carbon frames but thought it worth a try. The bolt is tightened as hard as it will go. Any ideas on this please.

Your not alone. Have a read through this thread. Spa frames and Thomson seat posts seem to be mentioned a lot. Should cover most suggestions. [topics merged by moderator]
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840 :D

I have four Spa frames including a titanium one and they all needed the seat tube reaming.
