Front rack for 2nd set of eyes

Post by David9694 »

A Bob Jackson touring frame I’ve built up has double eyes front and rear. At the front, there are mudguard eyes at 3 o’clock and the second set at about 11 o’clock. There are no other eyes or bosses, like at the mid point on the forks. I’ve never had a front rack before and I’ve successfully fitted an M:Part low rider (£23 delivered) - using the 3 o’clock (mudguard) eyes.

I can only see very see quite pricey Velo Orange “Porteur” racks that would use the 11 o’clock rack eyes - or am I missing something?

11 o clock eyes for the Mudguard, 3 o clock for 3 point rack, centre mount under front brake.

11 o’clock viewed from the near side - would be 1 o’clock and 9 from the offside.

It’s got cantis but there is a bolt and a hole in the crown.

There are plenty of racks that mount on the forward 3 o'clock hole. Searching for front pannier rack on any search engine and viewing images will show you them. E.g. Blackburn MTF1.

MTF1 hasn't been made for a decade or so. However here is a Blackburn low rider copy - the top secured with u-bolts round the fork and it has the hoop to prevent rack rotation.

That’s what I got - it’s a lot cheaper on Cyclebasket than Tredz.
