R2 has had "holidays" before. TC as well.
Where's Si? He's not been on for a couple of weeks.
Graham? He's not been on since January.

I reckon R2, TC, Si, Graham, and me, are the longest standing members. We go back to the previous incarnation of this forum, and the one before that.

I've remained fairly consistently .............. but for how long?

I haven't browsed for Forum for a while. Really sad to hear of Brucey's absence. He's the British Sheldon Brown and then some. Unparalleled depth and breadth of knowledge, super helpful and a good egg to boot. Hope all's well.
Best wishes to all,
Luke.

Me too. You needn't agree with him but he never gave up on calling out what he saw as unfairness and corruption.

I seem to remember another poster who aroused strong responses. I think his/ her name on here was Johnty?
They also stopped posting, along with others who you can't name but realise they no longer post.

There are many posters who's views I don't share but value their contributions.
When posters have a set to on here I cringe when it starts to stray into real nastiness.

I was among the first to join the original forum. It was a free for all in the early days then Simon and Si came along as Mods to curtail the fun. Or was it agro?

I valued much of Brucey's advice and hope he is okay.
There is your way. There is my way. But there is no "the way".

If you are not very resilient or have any sort of mental health issues getting worked up over disagreements or percieved insults on an online forum can pose a problem. Some folk obviously deal with it by disappearing or taking a break. From several years back Brucy has been consistently anti disk brakes and engaged in 'discussions' about that. Perhaps that has miffed him? Perhaps he's ill? I had a PM chat with Cyril and he was ok, just taking a break. In the past some folk seem to have got themselves so worked up over politics I feared they were about to burst a blood vessel...obviously time to draw breath and take a break.

Hi everyone
I last had contact with Brucey by email on March 6th following the sale of a cycle to him at the end of February. In view of the outpouring of concern and appreciation shown by users of this forum,( to which I would add mine) I’ve emailed him again to ensure he’s aware of your worries and to get in touch if possible, but no reply so far. I’d he does respond I’ll let you know.

The late Sheldon Brown has been mentioned. Obviously, he had his own www so he wasn't dealing with a forum but he seemed humorous in a gentle sort of way including being self-deprecating. Although he gained cult status in some quarters, it didn't seem to get to him.

I remember a thread on here about podium girls which I thought was quite off-putting and I stepped back from here for quite a while. Sometimes it can be a thread too far. I log in here now rarely.

Just to let you all know Brucey has had a stroke and is in hospital.

An angel neighbour raised the alarm about a week ago and the police took the front door off Brucey's house. They found Brucey lying at the rear of the house and the ambulance men estimate that he had been there for about four days.

I went round to Bruceys house this morning after reading this thread last night. I will try and post more information when I have it for you all.

In the meantime would it be possible to switch this thread to positive responses about how to recover from a stroke. Brucey is a legend and one of our national treasures. But please no questions let us get positive suggestions together.
