Brompton tensioners 3vs6?

Post by SA_SA_SA »

The Brompton 6 speed tensioner can cope with slightly bigger rear sprockets than the 3:

is this due to smaller jockey wheels or because the inner tensioner arm is longer on down direction?

My rusty, sorry, trusty steel rule shows the 3 speed derailleur inner tensioner arm is 64mm long while the 6 speed is 69mm (ish).

Maybe it's because it needs to cope with both the fold and the difference between sprocket sizes.
