Buying advice

Post by hirosama »

Hello,
I am brand new to this forum and I hope I got the right section to ask this.
I'm into buying a new cycle, and I am split between four bikes.

Specialized Sirrus X 3.0

Orbea Carpe 15

Whyte Portobello Plus V2

Trek Fx 3 disc

I'm riding in London and about, so a hybrid seems to hit the sweet spot for me.
Any feedback on these cycles is greatly appreciated.

Welcome.

Do you think that you'll be riding on rough stuff?

Will you ever need mudguards and a rack... and have you already checked those for fittings?

Roughest should be the trails in local parks, I've had a mtb most of my life but never really fully utilised it. Mudguards are not a must really, as for rack - no, I'm a backpacker  I'm after quality and reliability mainly.

Or, from a slightly different angle, are you likely to want to go shopping, in normal clothes, in the rain, when it's dark?

All good bikes, would suggest you try then for fit.

A couple of people at work have gone for internal gear hub bikes in a similar style, they ride these around london and for leisure, even light off roading, i've been impressed. If your using it daily, and space/time constrained for proper cleaning of drive train. It may be worth considering.
