From Shimano to Campag Press Fit BBs

Post by grazie »

This is this press-fit Shimano BB I currently have fitted. SM-BB91-41.

I want the equivalent Campagnolo BB for Utra Torque (Chorus pre 2015) cranks but I cannot find anything available. I'm also aware of the Praxis BB range but can't find anything suitable there either.

These are the nearest in size that I can find, but I can't find them in stock anywhere.

Please help.

After taking measurements myself, the BB width is 86mm so maybe this is what I need?

Why the fitted Shimano BB says 91 I've idea? Maybe they cut it down before fitting?

Are you sure you have a BB91 fitted? It a special standard for MTB cranksets that go in Specialized frame 84.5x41.

You never going to get UT crankset in that.

Measure your BB SHELL. If it 86.5x41 then use Ultr-tORQUE bb86 CUPS.
I should coco.

Thanks. but if the BB has SM-BB91-41 stamped on it most people would believe it to be an SM-BB91-41, I reckon, especially if they're available to buy online.
If that 91 doesn't actually mean 91mm, then that seems rather non-conventional and odd.
Found these too

There's a guy called Hambini who is best known for very sweary youtube videos about poor manufacturing quality of bike bits. The videos are a bit of a gimmick but apparently he does know his stuff about bottom brackets and offers various solutions to the sort of issue you have (no idea whether he addresses your specific issue though). Might be worth asking him. Never used him myself though - I steer clear of press fit.

Thanks for that, but I'm pretty sure Valbrona was right as there's nothing else available that comes close to the measurements taken.

The reason I mention this guy is that he manufactures converters which I guess means he makes things no-one else does. As far as I know he's just an engineer in a shed selling stuff direct, so I doubt you'll find what he does in the usual places.
