The question is which one do I need to order to replace it?
Please help
Cannondale super 6 bottom bracket... Which one?
Re: Cannondale super 6 bottom bracket... Which one?
nomm I think you are going to have to take the crank off and show a pic of the bottom bracket, maybe against a measuring ruler, for us to have any chance on this ..?
Re: Cannondale super 6 bottom bracket... Which one?
I hear you, but I don't know this system or own the tools. The LBS will be replacing the BB.
to ensure a quicker turn around for my friend and them, they have requested to know the part to order in
Thus I am faced with knowing the bike make and model, and the crank type etc but still can't work out from online research which BB I need
Re: Cannondale super 6 bottom bracket... Which one?
It’s either a BB30 or a BB30a. I own a Cannondale Caad 8 and mine also has a noisy bottom bracket. This is due to the bearing moving very slightly in the frame during pedalling. It is caused by the frame not being built to the exact tolerance required by the bearing. It’s a very common problem with Cannondales.
It can be solved by removing the bearing and re-installing with a specialist thread locking compound, which fills the very small gap between the bearing and the frame and should thus stop the movement and stop the creaking. For this, you need a new set of bearings, I think they are 6806 but I’m not sure, and some of the thread locking compound. You can use grease instead but it won’t last as long. You may find that even if you use the thread lock compound, you may need to repeat the exercise every couple of years.
A more radical solution (which I’m going for) is to convert the BB30 to a Shimano compatible 24mm BB, using a kit from either Praxis or Wheels Manfacturing. This costs about £70 but you will also have to buy a new chainset - a Shimano 105 chainset is £120.
Edit - looking at the photo, it’s a BB30 - it’s says so on the crank.

Re: Cannondale super 6 bottom bracket... Which one?
I got mine from airevelo bearings - very good service.
Really easy to service with a large screwdriver as a drift and a bearing press off eBay.
No creaking since.
Cheers James

Or buy the Unior removal tool for £25 and do the job properly!
